Company Information

Greetings BARR Plastics,

Some time ago you requested I send you a few pictures indicting how the transom storage boxes and the stern fuel storage closet worked out. They are now installed and have worked out very well. I was waiting to take these pictures until after I received the vinyl covered cushions for the boxes. I received the cushions on Friday and I have taken the pictures and enclose them with this e-mail to you as you asked.

This picture shows the two boxes installed on the transom deck. In this case the picture is taken looking from starboard to port at the stern of the vessel. If you look closely you can see the stainless steel u-bolts holding the box on place by attaching it to the upright member. There is another u-bolt attaching the back of the box to another upright. You can also see a number of those 2”x4” small plastic blocks you supplied me with being used as spacers between the box and the upright.

This is the reverse picture to the first one showing the same view however looking from port to starboard.

I have installed pneumatic arms to assist in raising the box lid and to hold the lid in the open position once opened. The lids are quite heavy and I was concerned that someone, not familiar with the lids, might drop the heavy lid and injury their fingers. These pneumatic units completely resolve that potential problem. They exert 20 lbs lifting pressure on the lid as it is being opened.

This picture simply shows the opposite view showing the pneumatic units on the port box.

This picture shows the swim grid storage closet. I will use this unit for storing flammable materials that could release vapours that potentially could make their way to the engine room and possibly cause a serious explosion and fire problem. Situating this closet and these materials here completely resolve that potential problem. The catches you see on the doors are plastic slam catches and they work very well to hold he doors closed and, because they made of plastic, they do not rust.

This picture shows two 5 gallon jerry cans stored in the lower part of this storage closet. While you cannot see them in this picture there are also two small propane tanks stored behind the jerry cans in the lower compartment.

This is the same storage closet viewed from the opposite or port side of the vessel.

In an earlier e-mail you indicated the chap who fabricated the boxes expressed an interest in knowing how they worked out. Please indicate to him that his work is very good and the boxes are correctly sized in accordance to the drawings and are working out very well for their intended tasks.

Thanks again for your assistance with this project and best regards to you folks.
