Several months ago, due to the rising cost of steel drums, Happy Planet began the daunting task of sourcing out containers that we would be able to procure for our raw fluid management. It was during this process that we learned of totes, both single use and reusable, that might be suitable for our needs. We contacted BARR Plastics and were introduced to the Citadel Tote.

We sampled the totes and conducted several trials to ensure that this medium would function within our product handling specifications. Upon review, we determined the reusable Buckhorn Citadel model would be ideal for our operation and purchased a small quantity. From a handling and management perspective, the totes have folded into our operation with great ease and it was not long after the initial purchase that we doubled our inventory of the totes.

The Citadel has turned out to be an excellent investment for Happy Planet. Our supplier, warehouse, and packing facility have all spoken highly of its durability and ease of use. The container design allows for a single operator to open, prep, manage the fill and unload with a minimized footprint on the production floor and a substantial savings in operator time. According to our warehouse, they have reported that the totes hold up exceptionally well and report no damage despite the repeated handling with power jack and forklift movements. As warehouse space is always a concern, the versatile design and structural integrity of the tote allows for multiple units to be stacked, again minimizing the footprint required.

Happy Planet prides itself on being an environmentally responsible company. The Citadel Totes, being reusable products, fit into our plans to continue that program. The Citadel Tote can and has withstood far more use than any drum that we have used, with no measurable cost to repair or replace. As well, the totes can hold one and a half times more material than 4 drums occupying the same space, which make the totes that much better.

As a result, we use fewer drums, enjoy a reduced handling cost, maximized freight with larger quantities and less storage space has made the Buckhorn Citadel Tote an essential item in our business growth. We have no hesitation in recommending this product. The Citadel Totes have proven themselves to be worth the investment.
